4 Texas Roadhouse Margarita Recipes For Your Next Girl’s Night - On The Gas | The Art Science & Culture of Food (1)

Every so often, I like to go to Texas Roadhouse, not for the food, but for those infamous Texas Roadhouse drinks. You know the ones: they are sweet, cold, and have just enough alcohol in them to make you pull up a ridesharing app. The only problem with getting them from Texas Roadhouse is that you cannot control the amount of alcohol that goes into them and, eventually, they are going to cut you off.

I had the (painful, really) task of trying out different Texas Roadhouse margarita recipes. I decided to focus on the four most popular margaritas that they currently have on their menu. We will start with the basic and then move onto the peach and strawberry flavors.

✔ Texas Roadhouse Margarita: The Basic Roadhouse Rita

Margaritas are a fan-favorite drink for many reasons. They are tasty, aren’t too sweet, aren’t too strong, and you can make them easily. Some people prefer margaritas frozen whereas other people prefer them on the rocks. No matter how you prefer them, we can all agree that Texas Roadhouse has perfected the basic margarita.

Texas Roadhouse is known for their Roadhouse Rita drinks. If you want to mimic the feel of your favorite restaurant, you can serve this one in a chilled mason jar. However, any glass is going to work just fine.

Now, Texas Roadhouse uses Jose Cuervo Gold for their drinks, but you can use any type of tequila that you want.

Servings: One Drink

Ingredients:

  • 3 Ounces Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila (Or Any Tequila That You Like)
  • 1 1/2 Ounces Triple Sec
  • 3/4 Cup Sweet And Sour Mix
  • 3/4 Cup Orange Juice (No Pulp)
  • 1 1/2 Ounces Beer Of Choice
  • 1 Lime Wedge

Steps:

  1. Fill your mason jar or glass with ice. Add in the tequila, triple sec, sweet and sour mix and orange juice. Stir extremely well with a swizzle stick to mix.
  2. Pour a shot of your choice of beer over the top.
  3. Add a lime wedge and serve immediately.

This is the most basic recipe. You will get different flavors and tastes depending on the type of tequila and the type of beer that you use. You want to ensure that all of your ingredients are as cold as possible before you make this drink, or something will taste a bit off. If you are like me, you may want to add just a little bit more tequila to really make it a party.

If you are in the mood for a frozen drink, you can just throw everything into a blender and finish with the lime wedge.

✔ Texas Roadhouse Strawberry Margarita

If you aren’t in the mood for the somewhat sour taste of the traditional margarita, how about something sweet? I don’t necessarily like to drink a strawberry margarita while I’m enjoying my meal, but I’d really like one while floating around my pool or curled up on the deck.

That’s why I’ve worked hard to concoct a strawberry margarita that tastes similar to Texas Roadhouse that I can make at home. This recipe makes one drink, but you might want to just go ahead and make a few because these are truly remarkable.

Servings: One Drink

Ingredients:

  • 3 Ounces Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila (Or Any Tequila That You Like)
  • 1 Ounce Triple Sec
  • 8 Ounces Of Frozen Strawberries
  • 2 Ounces Of Frozen Limeade Concentrate
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Sugar
  • Kosher Or Sea Salt To Taste

Steps:

  1. Take all of your ingredients and place them into your blender. Be sure to break up any chunks of frozen strawberry, if possible.
  2. Blend until everything is smooth. You should be able to see some flecks of strawberry, but nothing too big.
  3. Using sea salt or kosher salt, coat the glass rim of your cup.

You will want to enjoy this one right away (and then probably make a few others). Some people will top with a fresh strawberry, but I find that just gets in the way.

Think of this as your base for making any kind of frozen berry margarita. You can use raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and even cherries to get some unique margaritas that you won’t find at Texas Roadhouse.

✔ Texas Roadhouse Peach Margarita Recipe

Whenever my mom comes to town, she wants to try the Texas Roadhouse peach margarita, even though she doesn’t really like the food. Luckily, peach margaritas aren’t that difficult to make, so we can skip going to the restaurant entirely.

Servings: One Drink

Ingredients:

  • 16 Ounces Frozen Sliced Peaches
  • 3/4 Cup Tequila Of Choice
  • 1/4 Cup Triple Sec
  • 1/4 Cup Fresh Lime Juice (From 3 Limes)
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Ice Cubes

Steps:

  1. Combine all of your ingredients into blender and puree until they are smooth. The frozen peaches may get stuck in the bottom, under the blender blades, so be sure to remove them before you pour.
  2. Serve immediately and garnish with a fresh peach, if you have any available.

Peach margaritas don’t tend to go down as quickly as some of the other margaritas that you can make, so you won’t have to worry about continually making them.

✔ Rattlesnake Margarita Recipe

My personal favorite margarita from Texas Roadhouse is the Rattlesnake Margarita. It is a bit sour, a bit sweet, and really boozy. It has a lot of ingredients, so it isn’t something that I’m going to make all the time. However, I do tend to invest in them before summer starts and then enjoy them all summer long.

Serving Size: One Drink

Ingredients:

  • 1 Ounce Cranberry Juice
  • 1 1⁄2 Ounces Sour Mix (You Can Substitute In Margarita Mix Here If You Don’t Have Sour Mix)
  • 1 Ounce Tequila (I Tend To Get Higher Quality Tequila, But Anything Works)
  • 1⁄2 Ounce Raspberry Liqueur Of Your Choice
  • 1⁄4 Wedge Lime Juice

Steps:

  1. Combine all of your ingredients together, preferably in a tin mixer.
  2. Shake for at least 20 seconds, the longer you shake, the better it will be.
  3. Serve on the rocks in a salted or sugared margarita glass. If I’m drinking this with a meal, I choose salted. If I’m having it alone, I use sugar.

This drink is also great when you throw it into the blender. It tends to blend up a little soupier and softer than a traditional frozen margarita, but it is still great. If you are going to add more ice to make it more “frozen,” you may want to also add in more of the sour mix.

Once you perfect these recipes, you won’t have to go to Texas Roadhouse just to enjoy their drinks anymore. Instead, you can grill up some of your own steak in your backyard and enjoy margaritas without fighting over who is going to be the designated driver.
